Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power Station Project (Freelance)

Duration: 12-18 months (with an initial 12 months contract)
Location: Essex (On-site 4 days a week)
Industry: Power station construction (Mechanical & Electrical focus)
Day Rate: £450 (Outside IR35)

Role:
Working for the Tier 2 M&E supplier installing the MECIA elements to a new power station in Essex. Working as part of a 3x person team delivering a £15m package of works, reporting into a Commercial Manager.

Core Responsibilities:
Cost Management:
  • Responsible for the overall cost control of the package of works from the site start to final accounts.
  • This includes monitoring expenses, and forecasting future costs.
Procurement:
  • Manage the procurement of materials and services, ensuring that they are obtained at the best possible price to deliver the project.
Risk Management:
  • Identify and assess potential financial risks associated with the project, and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
Financial Reporting:
  • They prepare regular financial reports with the Commercial Manager, presenting to the clients, project managers and Tier 1 contractor.
Claim Management:
  • Although at the start of the project, you need the experience of taking a project through to completion with any claims or contractual changes that may happen.

Requirements:
  • Experienced Quantity surveyor working on NEC forms of contract
  • Able to start in April 2025 inline with the project go live date.
  • Full driving licence to easily commute to the site
  • Living locally to the site in Essex as you will be in site 3-4 days a week.
